Over the past 13 years, more than 14,000 freshmen at TU Graz have participated in the annual “Welcome Days” survey. Our latest study (2011–2025) reveals major shifts in students’ digital habits, including rising use of AI tools and tablets, alongside declining use of Wikipedia and open-source software.
The findings highlight new challenges for digital sovereignty and the future of open-source infrastructure at universities.
